'How has your healthy goal setting changed/influenced you in how you plan + lead each eat session?'
My answer for this question will be terrible because my goal setting simply does not effect how I plan or lead each eat session. My goals are exercising and flossing. Most of the kids or all probably get a lot of exercise. I do not talk about flossing much mostly because I do not think children would be interested in it and for parents or dentist to teach and make sure they floss everyday would be a difficult challenge. If I had healthy food choices as a goal I would try to convince them that veggies and fruits are better than junk food. Though, I don't think that is needed because by making healthy foods with them, that is already influencing them to eat healthier. Most sessions they finish most foods, and personally for myself when I eat something healthy I feel good afterwards. I assume that is the exact effect on them too. - Cathy Hoang Share one EAT learning experience that has made a lasting impact on you. Explain
Okay, so I think an EART learning experience that has made impact would be the cooking to be honest. I mean the information is really useful but the cooking and making food with everyone is much more valued. While I cut foods or make a sauce or something it just feels really fun. With those experiences I now know that I enjoy cooking with people. Learning about the foods itself is interesting as well, it makes me think about more healthier choices and why that certain food is good for me. ( Even though I know something is not healthy I still eat it so....) -Cathy Hoang Hello everyone! Its been awhile. Lately for this month I have been more focused on flossing. The reason for this is because My dentist says that I have some puffy gums and to fix that I need to floss more often. But, I don't really meet the requirements of my goal to 3 times day. ( Im a bad person I know) Though now I am making an effort. ( I feel like I say this way to often) I have not flossed today LOL, but I did yesterday. I am also trying to use salt water to try to kill the bacteria. As for exercise, I know for sure I have been weaker compared to last year. Probably because I have not been exercising extremely and in general I have been eating more and sometimes not at all. Since Spring is starting to come along, I am thinking of running outside or just jogging? Im not quite sure. I am still recording my exercise days and flossing days on my mini calendar. Right now, I need to figure out what I am going to do with my life. Wish me Luck!
I'll see everyone soon. Well this really isn't a question but, I'll answer this like a question anyways.
A way to discover whether or not any food preparation techniques we have introduced the kids has made an impact on their daily life is to just ask them. I asked about three kids and all of them said they do not cook at home. I guess it makes sense because they are quite young. Whats your favourite quote from one of the kids in your program?
"I can do this " - Nancy So at the time I was teaching Nancy to cut pita bread with a knife. She was having difficulty in cutting it, so after I showed her she told me that " I can do this". This shows that the Nancy actually listened to what I said and was willing to try it. She wanted to try the cut the bread without my help and so she did. Which was a good thing :^) Hello everyone! So I have decided to actually add another goal on top of my exercise goal ( Wow Im setting up so much work for myself oh well.. ). The new goal is to floss at least three times a week. A lot of people are encouraged to floss including myself but I don't really floss. With braces they take at least seven minutes to floss but now I have decided to actually try to floss more often. So you'll see this picture of the mini calendar at the bottom and that is actually showing both my exercise and floss progress. The colour in the corner ( in this case blue ) are the days I have flossed. Blank corners are a no floss. Circles are still exercise and X are still no exercise. ( YAY ME I ACTUALLY EXERCISED THIS WEEK. ONCE BUT PROGRESS!!) I will try to post my progress when the month is nearly ending.
So, lately I have been sick and my schedule has been all jumped everywhere. For the past month I've only exercised once in January ( If you do not count gym in school). As the month continues I keep getting busy. So I've decided to change my goal to 2 days a week and will be starting again at the final week on January. I don't think my schedule would be able to fit 3 days so 2 days be most likely be better for me. Wish me luck as I cry in my corner, aha I'm just joking.
So, I finally got myself a mini calendar to record my exercise! It is pretty cute, it has a magnet at the back so I stuck it to my lamp. Every time I do not exercise I will put an "x" on the day, every time I do I will circle the day.
