Session 4 of phase 3 at the Writer's Exchange! Today we made fruit parfait. We had an assortment of different fruits. All the kids came back for seconds and they loved the yogurt. The sessions are getting easier to manage because the kids are getting used to the leaders and they listen to us.

Session 3 of phase 3 at the Writer's Exchange! Today we made hummus. Along with the hummus we had an assortment of vegetables and some pita bread. Everyone was a big fan of the hummus with pita bread. Our topic for this week was local eating. We also drew our very own veggie mobiles. The kids really enjoyed the activity.
Session 2 of phase 3 at the Writer's Exchange! Today we made fruit smoothies! We had two different combinations of smoothies. All the kids and leaders loved it and came back for seconds. Surprisingly the kids loved the chia seeds. Today's session ran smoothly. Which was great!
Even though my goal date has long past, I have not stopped trying drink a lot of water. Once and a while I would drink less than what I would have wanted to. I did just get a new water bottle and its bigger than my old one. So I hope to be drinking more water. Also the weather is getting warmer!!! So I will for sure be drinking a lot more water
Session 1 of phase 3 at the Writer's Exchange! Similarly to phase 2, spinach dip was our first session's snack. We split all the kids into three groups, each group did a different component of the spinach dip. The kids at the Writer's exchange are a group that have a lot of diverse personalities. The first session was a little hectic but the next session will be better!
EAT Phase 3 has begun! Today I found out that in phase 3 I will be at the writer's exchange. Meaning we will be "W.E E.A.T" Our first session will be April 26th 2016. I am with two other EAT leaders and Barb will be with there assisting us. I can't wait!
Session 8 of phase 2 at Brant Villa! This was our last session for phase 2. It is both a happy and sad time. I am happy that we have completed another phase, and sad since my time at my site, Brant Villa, is over. I have enjoyed my time there and all the experiences I have gained. I have grown as a person since session 1 of phase 1. For today’s session we made crepes and ice cream, topped with banana and pineapple.
Today's session ran well. All the kids, and leaders, were excited to make the ice cream. They all participated in making their afternoon snack, it was more like dessert XD The food was great, except for the ice cream it was too salty. All the kids enjoyed preparing it. We were using the skillet today, which was fun. As the EAT Program is winding down, describe the extent of your personal health goal and what strategies you will use for yourself to maintain the role of consuming healthily in the ongoing future. My goal was to drink six cups of water each day. I completed my goal three months ago, but I have not stopped trying to drink six cups of water each day. I have been successful except for the few occasional days where I would not drink enough water. Some strategies I use are bringing a water where ever I go, drink water when ever I can, and filling a cup or water bottle and placing it in front of me. These strategies allow me to have water near me so I can drink more water throughout the day. A strategy I will use to maintain a healthy diet in the future is eat a lot of fruits and vegetables! I will also eat more according to the Canada food guide.
P.S. On top of drinking six cups of water a day, I also drink tea , fruit smoothies, and protein and nutritional shakes. Session 7 of phase 2 at Brant Villa! Today we made fruit smoothies! We had orange juice, vanilla yogurt and fruits including honeydew, bananas, kiwi, mango, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Each kid was able to personalize their own smoothies, with different combinations of fruits. Each kid tried all the different types of fruits. We even had chia seeds which all of the kids, and leaders, tried some. Today was a great session! All the kids enjoyed drinking and making the smoothies.
How has your healthy goal setting changed or influenced you in how you plan or lead each EAT session? My goal was to drink 6 cups of water each day. I think it influenced how I led the program because I would encourage the kids to drink water. Also before the program starts and I am setting up I will fill a pitcher of cold water and place cups so the kids can serve themselves water, I have learned through my own goal settings that water is great and your body needs it to be healthy.
